Hangover cure

I’ve been hearing a lot of different results from Vemma. Allergy cure, lowers cholesterol, more energy of course… last week I gave a can of Verve to a friend who drank it before a night on the town. He told me a couple days later that he had no hangover the next day. This claim will require more study to be sure…

Vemma testimonial

Tom introduced me to Vemma in early June. My husband has always had issues taking vitamin supplements. They gave him stomach issues. After Tom telling me about his success and the fact that I don’t like swallowing pills myself we gave it a try. John has had high blood pressure for years and high cholesterol for at least 8 years. He also has suffered from horrible allergies since his was young. He has tried lots of cholesterol reducing meds. All have given him the muscles aches. Since June John has been taking Vemma every day. John went for his 3 month routine blood test on Friday. I have to say I am SHOCKED— His cholesterol went from 211 to 170. He has not been that low in years!!!. His liver enzymes are normal now and they were high in June. I also noticed that he has not taken anything for his allergies since the end of May. That in itself is a huge accomplishment. After these results I have told several people about Vemma and they are all eager to try it.

This is truly a great product and I hope to find more success with other people that I introduce to people!!

Vitamin Deficiencies

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Dr. Steven Jones, Gastroenterologist and Vemma Evangelist, discusses vitamin deficiencies.

The body needs many different vitamins to function adequately. A lack of one or more vitamins may cause symptoms that may be mild or severely debilitating depending on the vitamin and the period of deficiency. Vitamin deficiency may be associated with inadequate dietary intake or with certain conditions such as alcoholism and absorption syndromes where the body is unable to efficiently absorb nutrients and vitamins from the food that has been eaten.

The Lunge

Reposted from Fitness by Kimmy

I saw this article on proper lunge technique and am posting it here as a personal reminder.

*Tip: Regardless of which type of lunge you’re doing, your torso should be erect with your chest lifted, and abs in, to keep from leaning forward. Try and keep your feet approximately hip-width apart. This will provide for better balance and a more stable lunge. Lastly, positioning of the forward foot (whether with a static or moving lunge) is vital to keeping your knees healthy. A good rule is to try and ensure the knee is aligned with the ankle (or behind the toes) when your in the descended position.

Static (or Stationary) Lunge:

The static lunge is the most basic form of lunging (and there are many versions; though I’ll only list a few in this post). Stand with feet hip-width apart and take a big step forward. Your back foot should be on your toes or ball of your foot (keep that heel off the floor). Your forward foot should be planted flat on the floor (keep this heel on the floor). This is your starting position. To begin, simply drop your back knee down. Push up through the front heel, keeping your abs in, to return to the starting position. Avoid locking the knees at the top of the movement. Keep in mind this exercise is not about ‘how low you can go.’ In fact, a 90 degree angle in the front knee bend is sufficient enough for any type of lunge. For beginners, you can try this move while holding onto a chair or wall for balance. If you want to add some intensity, grab some dumbbells or a barbell for extra resistance. Don’t forget to switch legs and do the other side! =)

Alternating Lunge (Forward):

Stand with your feet about hip-width apart, and begin by taking a big step forward. In this phase, be mindful of the knee position mentioned above; it still applies. To return to the starting position, push back through the heel of your forward leg–keeping your back erect and abs in. Repeat using the opposite side, alternating legs throughout the exercise. Again, you can add dumbbells or a barbell to make it a little more challenging.

Backward Lunge:

The backward lunge is just another variation of the alternating lunge. Stand with your feet about hip-width apart, and begin by taking a big step BACK this time. You really want to reach back with this stride to get a good stretch–in my experience, most people don’t step as far as they think they do on a backward lunge. As with the other lunge types, be careful of the forward knee position on the down-phase of the exercise. To return to the starting position, push up and forward through the front heel–keeping your back erect, chest lifted and abs in.

Walking Lunge (my favorite!):

Start with your feet hip-width apart. Make sure you have a clear, unobstructed, path of about 20 yards. Begin by taking a big step forward with your first foot–I know I sound like a broken record, but keep your back erect, chest lifted and abs in to avoid leaning your upper body forward. Once your front knee is about perpendicular to the floor, push up and forward through the front heel and go directly into another forward lunge with the opposite leg. Continue alternating legs throughout the exercise…or until your run out of room. :P

As with any exercise, to keep it safe, only use weight you can lift by yourself unless you have a spotter nearby. If you’re using dumbbells, just let them hang at your sides. If using a barbell, place the bar on the meaty part of your shoulder (use a bar pad if you need to–recommended).

Justifying the cost of Vemma

I have my first auto-ship coming.  I don’t yet have the sales to cover the monthly costs but I had this thought the other day… my friend Tom who you may have seen in the video from a couple days ago swears by Vemm as something that helped him recover from cancer.  I don’t have anything so dramatic to report but what I can say is that I have easily gone without my morning coffee these past two weeks and I skip my afternoon nap.  That’s a big change for me.

stellaOn my morning walk with Stella I was doing that math.  I drink instant coffee these days.  But lets use for sake of arguement the $4 a day Starbucks habit I used to have.  That’s approximately $120 a month.  Now add in the nap times.  I bill anywhere between $40 and $100 an hour depending on the work.  Let’s use $50 for this.  The time I spend working when I used to nap is worth $1500 a month.  So I could claim that my Vemma intake is saving me anywhere between $120 and $1620 a month.

What does Vemma cost me?  I don’t have the juice on auto-ship just yet.  I have the energy drinks but I think I’ll change that.  If I were to buy the smallest package of juice, that’s 2 bottles, the cost would be: 40 EU ($57) a bottle which breaks down to 1.30 EU or $1.80 American per day.  If I were a big spender and could afford the 20 bottle pack (buy 16 get 4 free) it would cost 27 EU ($38.5) per bottle which breaks down to .91 euro cents or $1.30 a day.

So that’s the way I’m justifying the expense to myself until the day comes when the product pays for itself.

The testimonial that sold me

I was very skeptical of this or any MLM program until my friend Tom, whom I’ve known for over 10 years, showed me this video he produced. He’s healthier and wealthier because of Vemma. So now I’m in.

100 pushups

A friend challenged me to this today http://hundredpushups.com/

I just tested myself and I can do 20 in one go.

Anyone want to take the challenge with me?

Day 1 – push ups

set 1 10
set 2 12
set 3 7
set 4 7
set 5 max (at least 9)

Success!  I am one day closer to being able to do 100 push-ups. Please note that each set has a 60 second break in between.

And yes…  I took my Vemma shot this morning.

Since Day 1 of the push ups went so well I thought…. why not try the 200 sit-ups test? http://www.twohundredsitups.com/ That was not so easy for me.  Seems my “core” is WEAK.  So I’m starting the program off on the easiest setting.

Day 1 – sit ups

set 1 3
set 2 4
set 3 3
set 4 3
set 5 max (at least 5)

Next… SQUATS!

Note to self… do NOT try to convert the 100 push ups regiment to a 100 pull ups regiment…
